From a Bag

A member took home a bag of scraps and surprised us with this !  A fun way to make a baby quilt. Measures 36" square.

For March babies

Blocks on white colored with fabric markers by children at our last parish festival - a way to have them help us and let them share in doing a corporal work of mercy.

Another for February

This one for the Neonatal Unit.

This is an enlarged Baton Rouge block made to a 30" square dimension - the minimum size for our local unit.

"To sew is to pray. Men don't understand this. They see the whole but they don't see the stitches. They don't see the speech of the creator in the work of the needle. We mend. We women turn things inside out and set things right. We salvage what we can of human garments and piece the rest into blankets. Sometimes our stitches stutter and slow. Only a woman's eyes can tell. February Report 1

We gave a member a bag of scraps (small leftovers from previous quilts) and here's what she came up with:

Great job, Jee Soo!  She took the pieces and constructed 9 1/2" squares to come up with this colorful baby quilt.

Last one for January

These are so popular. We can't make enough of these.  Since we are in Southern California, we only use two layers of flannel in putting these rag quilts together. That's the sun shining on the last row.

A modern baby quilt

These were 9" squares that went together very quickly.  And the fact that the squares were busy and colorful didn't let the size of the squares make the top look too simple.  We loved it.
