October Offerings

Everyone's been busy, but we did get three turned in that were made in September:

We're all using up scraps of fabric and flannel.  Middle one already going to a preemie that needs open heart surgery.  We'll be praying for her.

More for June

One member is crocheting a border on this decorative fleece.  This one is adult size and for a lady. We're going to keep it on hand for when a request come in for a prayer quilt for an adult.

Another of the fleece quilts - this one for an adult male.

Another tube quilt.  Served first as a demo quilt for a 7th grade career presentation ( the student decided she was going to open a quilt shop). Has fleece on the back.

Quilts for June

All three around 36" square.  Gloria figured out how to make the edges of the rag quilts fluffier.  I'll post how she does this once she has her demo.  These quilts go to low income mothers at their first post-partum visit.

First for May

It's so fun using the letters to make a quilt design.  JeeSoo made this one.  Measures 36" square. For a newborn.

Last of the March quilts

Here are two of our perennial favorites - rag quilts.  The members love to make them and the mothers love to get them.

Have you made any?  What's you favorite pattern?

We have two members now who crochet an edging to fleece to make a quick baby blanket.  The one above is 30"by 36" .

We Had A Workshop

Our group, St Anne's Sewdality, meets in the AM on a weekday.  Parishioners have asked if we could have a weekend meeting.  After several made that same request quite recently, we decided to have a workshop and show them how we make a quilt.  It was fun and a success - 7 participants came and all were happy to be learning how to quilt - even when they don't have a sewing machine.
One lady requested to learn how to crochet. Since we do donate fleece quilts with a crochet
edge, I invited my Mom to come and show her how. The group quickly grew to three.

We divided the quilt process into steps. Each member had one
assigned to them. They explained what to do and how.

This was the binding station.  We did have sewing stations, too.
And of course the ironing station. We provided treats and drinks, but
they were so busy and enthused they hardly stopped to take advantage of that table.
They did stop for the lunch we provided.  It was fun to get to know them.

Here they're learning how to cut.

Sandwiching a quilt.

Checking on the crocheting. First project - a small dishcloth.

A finished top!

Finished, sandwiched and beginning to tie.
All asked when are we doing it again.  Looks like we might have an auxiliary group for weekends.
